Ltd (BSNL), the country’s largest telecom service provider, has decided to
offer separate broadband tariff packages for home and business users.
BSNL will launch its broadband services in 198 cities across the country
soon, according to Anand Khare, joint DDG (commercial).
This tariff plan, circulated to senior BSNL officials at the circles and the
head office by Khare, is friendly to low-end home users as against low-end
corporate users.
The home users can avail bandwidth of 256 kbps at Rs 500 per month
without security deposit, while business users have to shell off Rs 1,200
monthly with two months’ rental as the security deposit.
In the Rs 500-plan, the data download and upload limit for home users is
1.0 GB with additional usage charge of Rs 2 per MB. In the case of business
users, it is 4 GB with same additional usage charge.
BSNL’s DataOne broadband services for homes will have four monthly tariff
plans of Rs 500, Rs 1,000, Rs 1,800 and Rs 3,300 while corporate users will
have plans starting from Rs 1,200, Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 to Rs 9,000.
