Pakistan To Set Up Human Rights Commission
and Broadband Policy
|
Islamabad: In a move seen as significant, the
federal cabinet has consented to establishment of human rights commission
and Pakistan’s first ever broadband policy.
Chaired by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, the meeting of the federal cabinet
reviewed the pros and cons of the establishment of human rights commission.
President Pervez Musharraf had ordered the setting up of the commission.
The draft constitution has reportedly been now put in pipeline to be
presented in the parliament for its final approval.
The meeting also delivered its consent to Pakistan's first ever broadband
policy in order to bring country’s internet service along the lines of
international level service.
In a drive to achieve this end, the cabinet meeting has also ordered the
lowering of the bandwidth service rates in the country.
Later, the prime minister also apprised the meeting with the details of his
recent China visit, saying that China’s investment would increase in the
country.
He indicated that cooperation would grow further between Pakistan and China
in different key domains of human activity. |
