Motive Strengthens Position In Europe

(Business Wire)-- Motive, Inc. (NASDAQ:MOTV), a leading provider of management software, today announced that it continues to strengthen its European presence through relationships with leading broadband providers Multikabel, Swisscom and Telecom Italia.

All of these companies are working with Motive to build self-management capabilities into their broadband offerings. Motive now counts as customers 16 of Europe's leading DSL and cable broadband operators, which together serve more than 45 percent of all Western European broadband subscribers.

Telecom Italia, the largest broadband provider in Italy with more than 85 percent of the subscriber base, and Dutch cable operator Multikabel have selected Motive to build intelligent automation into their broadband services, ensuring they are easier to set up, use and maintain.

The agreement with Telecom Italia was the result of Motive's success over the past two years in working with Telecom Italia's ISP, Tin.it. In addition to these new agreements, Swisscom, the largest broadband provider in Switzerland and an existing Motive customer, has reached an important deployment milestone by making new Motive-enabled service offerings available to all its subscribers and customer service personnel.

"As European providers shift focus from merely delivering high-speed access to offering bundles of sophisticated voice, video and data services, Motive is seeing greater demand for self-management software that intelligently automates the installation and maintenance of these complex services and the various devices they depend on," said Bruno Teuber, Motive's vice president and general manager for EMEA.

"Our 'built-in management' approach is playing a significant role in helping providers more quickly deliver next-generation services, gain higher customer penetration and satisfaction, and keep operational costs to a minimum. This, coupled with Motive's continued investment in our European operation over the past five years, has allowed us to prosper in this region, serving as a strategic partner to many of the industry's largest and most innovative providers."

Motive's software builds management capabilities directly into broadband services, automating a range of complex processes such as configuration, activation, and problem resolution to simplify the use of services for subscribers and to improve operational efficiency for providers.

Motive maintains offices in London, Paris, Munich, Zurich, and Stuttgart, and will open a sixth European office in the first half of 2005.
