| A micro-filter is small device designed to plug
into your phone socket. It is similar to a normal splitter used to connect multiple
telephones to the same socket.
The purpose of a micro-filter is to separate
voice data from computer data and therefore must be connected to each phone socket
in your house.
If you are not connecting to the broadband network using a telephone
line, a micro-filter is not required.
Micro-filters are usually, though not always, supplied with your
ADSL modem but are easily purchased
from a variety of outlets. The price is around £5 - £10.
