What is Low-speed
DSL Broadband?
|
| Low-speed DSL is something of
a half-way product between dial-up and broadband 'proper'. |
|
| DSL stands for Digital Subscriber
Line. A Low-speed DSL connection gives faster access to the internet using the
ADSL technologies available but because
it uses less bandwidth, typically in the range of downstream speeds of 150Kbps
- 256Kbps compared to the 'standard' ADSL
downstream speed of 512Kbps; Low-speed DSL does not cost as much as the faster
connection of ADSL. |
|
| Prices for 150Kbps Low-speed
DSL usually fall into the £10 - £15 range, however these broadband speeds
are becoming increasingly rare and lack the functionality and convenience of
the speedier connections. |
|
| Although not high-speed broadband,
and it must be pointed out that Low-speed DSL is not really suitable for online-gaming
or video streaming, Low-speed DSL does give a much better performance than dial-up
connections and is great for users who are after a cut-price but faster internet
connection. |
